It is an eye opening experience to see the difference between 1lb of muscle vs 1lb fat. Seeing the difference in volume is interesting. And then to also know that the little muscle will burn MANY more calories then the larger volume of fat. Muscle tissue will burn seven to 10 calories daily per pound. Fat burns two to three calories daily per pound. Pretty interesting. So they work together - the more muscle you have the more calories you burn even sleeping. And the reverse is true for fat.
Many of my clients have asked me about the best way to manage weight. If they are over weight I always encourage building muscle over cardio because that muscle will work for you longer. That being said, any exercises is good and ultimately what works? Is what you enjoy. If you don't enjoy it, it won't last and also - what's the point? Thoughts?
